In Korea, there are about 120 recreational forests, which are run by the Korea Forest Service, provincial governments, or by individuals. Of all the forests, 36 are registered with the Korea Forest Service for systematic preservation and facilities management.
Natural recreational forests offer a variety of facilities, including forest lodging, auto campsites, wild plant arboretums, forest culture centers, campgrounds, restaurants, and convenience stores. Each year, the forests gain in popularity as more and more visitors come to get a breath of fresh air, wander amongst the trees, and spend time camping with loved ones.
In the forest, new wonders unfold with the coming of each new season: in the spring, colorful flowers and lush leafy greens; in summer, cool valley brooks and plenty of shade; in the fall, trails winding alongside breathtaking foliage; and in the winter, crisp snow that transforms the landscape into a stunning winter wonderland.
In this article, we’ll be presenting our readers with 13 of Korea’s natural recreation forests, selected based on their natural beauty and number of annual visitors. Though a trip to the forest takes some time and effort, those who make the trek will find it well worth their while!
