| The 2012 F1 Korean Grand Prix, scheduled for October 12-14, is the 17th in the line-up of 19 races held around the world. It is the third race to be held in Korea. At the end of the final race in Sao Paulo, each of the 13 teams will add up their points from the year’s races. The team with the highest cumulative point will be declared the 2012 F1 World Championship Race winner. This year, the F1 Korean Grand Prix returns to Korea International Circuit (KIC) in Yeongam, Jeollanam-do. KIC is a hybrid circuit that combines two different racing courses: one designed specifically for the F1 races, the other for regular use during the off-season. At 5.615km, it is the longest circuit in Asia and the second longest in the world after Monza Circuit (5.793km) in Italy. One of the highlights of the circuit is that it is set against the ocean background with parts of it stretching along the harbor. Moreover, KIC is equipped with a 14-meter-long F1 pit building, a control tower, a media center, a team building, grandstands (120,000 seats), parking lots and other amenities for the added comfort of spectators and participants. Come October, the world will once again turn its attention to Korea, as it presents the thrill of speed at the 2012 F1 Korean Grand Prix. |
