| Introduction | ||
| The Gyeongnam Goseong Dinosaur World EXPO, scheduled for 73 days from March to June, is sure to be outstanding, not only in terms of its size, but in what it has to offer. The festival will be held in Goseong-gun, Gyeongsangnam-do, recognized as one of the world’s three-largest sites of fossilized dinosaur footprints. The festival will feature a wide variety of events relating to the dinosaurs that lived in this area 100 million years ago. This year, three tour ferries will be in full operation adjacent to the festival grounds offering tour rides between Tongyeong-si and Hallyeohaesang National Park. This massive and exciting festival will feature various performances, exhibitions, and hands-on activities; so many that visitors probably cannot see the entire EXPO all in one day. Event Programs: The Gyeongnam Goseong Dinosaur World EXPO exhibitions will include an exhibition hall full of dinosaurs from around the world; an exhibition hall with dinosaur robots; and a dinosaur entertainment hall, which the only entrance is by walking into the mouth of a model dinosaur. In addition, photos can be taken in front of the dinosaur egg display. The festival also features various hands-on activities such as dinosaur models and commemorative stamps. Naturally, this course is highly recommended for families with children. In addition, there will be fossils, minerals, jewelry, and sculpture exhibitions displaying the wares of 100 exhibitors from 16 countries across the globe. Exhibit items will be for sale. Also, a ten-member group of water-skiers from Australia, the WA Show Ski Team, will perform in a dazzling nine-part show twice a day during the festival period. A 30-minute multimedia and fireworks show with lights, water screens, lasers, and fireworks will be held each Friday and Saturday at 9 p.m. at the waterside stage. There will be a parade as well featuring various dinosaur characters daily at 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. The parade lasts 30 minutes, and viewers will have plenty of time to have their pictures taken with festival characters. For an additional 3,000-won ticket, visitors can participate in a “dinosaur dig” at an excavation site located in the dinosaur hands-on hall. Those who take part will receive a frame with their excavated fossil and a certificate of achievement. |
