Korea's fascinating ancient culture can be best understood by visiting one of the many historical monuments, many of them which have been named UNESCO World Heritage Sites. One example of what Korea has to offer is the over 500 year old Jongmyo Shrine (종묘), where the Kings of the Joseon Dynasty are worshiped. The worship ceremony is still in it's original form, and is performed just as it was hundreds of years ago. It has been hailed as the oldest complete ceremony in the world.
Another notable place is the Byeongsan Seowon (병산서원). Many famous Korean scholars have studied at the Confucian school. You will feel peaceful as you tour around the grounds, marvel at the beautiful buildings and enjoy the natural environment.
