| This house, designated as Important Folk Material No. 177, is tucked on the eastern section of Hahoe Village; hence the name “Hadong House,” meaning the ‘Historic Home in East Hahoe.’ The square wood posts support a hipped and gabled roof, covered with attractive ancient roof tiles. The house rests on an elevated platform, built with well-hewn rectangular stone blocks. The spacious front yard has flower beds and a condiment crock stand. The low-rising garden wall, made with rocks and clay permits insight into its idyllic yard and makes this house inviting and welcoming. The gate and the gate quarters are surmounted by a weather-beaten thatch roof, beaming with the pale glow of bygone times. |
