Introduction

This ancient home in Andong Hahoe Village has a thatch roofed front gate. The main building, extending six kan (ancient building measurement unit corresponding to the space between two columns), has an atypical layout with its hall tilted to the right side. Rooms are placed on either side of the kitchen. The yard, decorated with garden plants and landscaping stone, has a large wooden bench in the middle. The bench is sometimes used by the guests of this bed and breakfast as a table for outdoor meals. The completely enclosed yard provides comfort, and the rooms have been renovated yet still retain their original figures. The red clay-coated walls with a rugged wood frame make this accommodation ideal for travelers preferring a rustic lodging. The weathered look of the thatch roofed outer house accentuates the quaint beauty of this house.
