| Introduction | ||||||||||||
| The Jeonju National Museum was established in 1990 as an institute for the research, preservation, and exhibition of Jeollabuk-do’s most prized cultural treasures. The museum houses over 30,000 artifacts, a majority of which were excavated from the Jeollabuk-do area, and has on exhibit over 1,300 pieces spread throughout 5 exhibition halls and 1 outdoor exhibition hall. The museum also serves as a venue for numerous cultural activities and educational programs, providing visitors with the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of Korea’s proud history. | ||||||||||||

| * Main Building: Ancient Culture Room, Special Exhibition Room (1F), Fine Arts Room, and Folklore Room (2F) * Ancient Culture Room: relics from the Prehistoric Age, divided into: the Prehistoric Culture of the Jeonbuk Area, the Formation & Development of Ancient Nations, the Growth of the Baekje Dynasty & the Culture of the Three Kingdoms Period, and the Jukmakdong Archaeological Site in Buan & Exchanges in Northeast Asia * Fine Arts Room: 350+ relics excavated from the Jeonbuk area including a Bronze Buddha produced in Gimje during the Three Kingdoms Period, a Buddhist sculpture plate from the Wanggungni Stone Pagoda in Iksan (National Treasure No. 123), works by local artists, and pottery dating from the Goryeo period to the Joseon period. * Folklore Room: 300+ items related to folklore and local craftsmanship (agriculture and the flourish of agricultural culture in the Jeonbuk area) * Special Exhibition Room: various special exhibitions held each year |
