|Bonghwasan is a 789 meter high mountain situated in Jangsu-gun, Jeollabuk-do Province. It is located in the middle of the southern range of the Baekdudaegan Mountains. The mountain houses relics of Bongsudae (beacon tower) that still remain intact, and are thought to have been used until after the Unified Silla period. The location of the fire signal site is estimated to be somewhere around Unbong Peak and Yayeong-myeon, where there were frequent border conflicts between the Baekje and Silla Kingdoms. Bonghwasan Mountain is beautiful in the spring with its colonies of royal azaleas in full bloom and in the fall, the reeds are spectacular. There are also many wild flowers and herbs in the area. The Bonghwasan Mountain Royal Azalea Festival is held between the end of April and early May every year.|
