Introduction

In 1935, government officials built 12 Hanok (traditional house) units near Hyanggyo (a local Confucian School) and Hanbyeongnu (Hanbyeokdang Pavilion), a scenic spot under which the Jeonjucheon Stream runs. The houses in the area are called Buyongs.

West of Buyongheon lies the Omokdae & Imokdae Historic Sites. Within 50m of Buyongheon is the Wanpanbon Culture Center, which was built to preserve a traditional Korean novel, which was printed using wooden type faces. In addition, there is the Jeonju Traditional Cultural Center, which provides traditional music performances, traditional Korean cuisine cooking classes, and exhibitions.
