Introduction

Just a step away from the Dongbaek Housing District packed with modern apartment buildings, you will find Hyojongdang. This traditional architecture was built by a descendant of the Miryang Bak Family, using natural red clay and Geumgang pine cut from the Baekdusan Mountain. It harmoniously blends with the surrounding nature. It consists of an Anchae (inner quarters) now inhabited by the owner, and a Sarangchae (men’s quarters), which is offered for accommodation. The Sarangchae has two guest units: the large-sized Sol which is suitable for a group of about 10 and can be used for brief workshops or seminars; and there is the 2-room Hyang, frequently used by families and small group visitors. The guesthouse provides homemade soybean paste, chili paste, rich soybean paste, homegrown produce, handpicked vegetables, and healthy local foods made with fresh local ingredients. Homegrown honey is also available for purchase. The guesthouse is located about a 15-minute drive from famous tourist spots such as Everland and the Korean Folk Village. It is a 20- to 30-minute drive from major cities in Korea including Seoul, Bundang, and Suwon.
