Introduction
Songjeong Station (Gwangju Songjeong Station), located about 14 kilometers away from Gwangju Station, is a railway transportation hub serving the Hanam, Pyeongdong, and Sochon areas. The station serves the KTX train from Yongsan Station, the Honamseon and Gwangjuseon trains from Mokpo Station, and the Gyeongjeonseon trains. Originally named ‘Songjeongri Station,’ the station was renamed ‘Gwangju Songjeong Station’ in April 2009 to avoid any confusion that might result from the old name of the administrative district, for which the station was named.

The station is fast becoming one of the major stations of the Gwangju Metropolitan area. In 2008, Railway Line 1 was extended to Pyeongdong Station, making transportation even more convenient for those in the surrounding area.
