Introduction

Located on Jaraseom Island in Gapyeong, Gyeonggi-do Province, Ewhawon Garden is an ecosystem theme park created in pursuit of harmony, peace, and balance. Ewhawon literally means ‘a meeting of two different beings to create harmony and greater development’. Although the garden is small, it is home to many species of plants and trees from different regions of Korea and from around the world to signify harmony between all.

Ewhawon is divided into botanical gardens for subtropical plants and southern area plants, and consists of various themed gardens named Brazil Coffee Garden, Hadong Green Tea & Goheung Citron Gardens, as well as Pine Tree Forest, Hwanungsa, Ewhajeong, and Ilwonji. The traditional pavilion and pond set up inside the greenhouse create a distinctive atmosphere of a Korean traditional garden, and a number of rare trees can be found such as a two-hundred-year-old coffee tree, and a five-hundred-year-old olive tree. A free drink (coffee, green tea, or citron tea) is available at the Harmonia Cabin located in front of the Brazil Coffee Garden for visitors with admission tickets.
