| Baengnyeonam is part of Daejeonsa Temple and is located opposite the temple. With a crystal-clear stream in front and Janggunbong Peak in back, the Baengnyeonam Hermitage is set right in the heart of nature. Although it is unknown when the hermitage was built, it is believed to have been named after Baengnyeon, the daughter of King Ju.
During the Imjin War (Japanese Invasion of Korea, 1592-1598), the great Buddhist monk Samyeong stayed at the hermitage in a building named Songunjeongsa. Though the building is no longer in existence, you can still find the site and a plaque marking the building’s location. Among the artifacts that have stood the test of time are Sanwanggak and Yosa and the portrait of the great Buddhist monk Samyeong. |
