|Gimhae Hanok Experience Hall offers guests an all-inclusive traditional Hanok experience. Designed to resemble a traditional aristocrat’s house with its standard 99 sections, Gayawon boasts an impressive 85 sections in 7 buildings. Buildings include: Sarangchae (사랑채, main building where the men stay and welcome guests), Anchae (안채, building located at the center of the compound), Byeolchae (별채, detached building), Araechae (아랫채, building at the bottom of the compound), Bakkatchae (바깥채, outbuilding), Haengnangchae (행랑채, servants’ building), and Sadang (사당, shrine).
Anchae, Araechae, Sarangchae, and Byeolchae offer guestrooms equipped with modern conveniences; Haengnangchae houses a Korean restaurant. Other facilities include a traditional garden, a teahouse, seminar rooms, and special display areas. One special area is Gotgan (곶간), a storeroom displaying a Korean Jige (지게), a transportation device used for carrying heavy bags of grain or bundles of firewood upon one’s back. Another unique section is Jangdokdae (장독대), a terrace displaying earthenware vessels used to store food and condiments such as soy sauce and kimchi. With its variety of traditional facilities and conveniences, Gayawon offers guests a comfortable, but authentic Hanok stay.
