Samcheong-dong is full of quaint little shops scattered throughout the entire hanok area (traditional Korean housing area). These shops sell not only modern fashion items, but also things with a more traditional feel, decorated with traditional Korean patterns. Rather than being mass-produced, items sold in Samcheong-dong tend to be one-of-a-kind, handmade pieces that feature patterns reminiscent of those used in traditional mother-of-pearl crafts and hanok doorknobs. Some pieces are even decorated using the Korean alphabet. In this special neighborhood, you’ll find plenty of stores selling chic hats, neckties, handmade crafts, and antiques, and even a Fair-Trade clothing store.
