Ginseng can be purchased in department stores, supermarkets, duty-free shops, ginseng specialty shops (such as Cheong Kwan Jang) or the Ginseng Wholesale Center in the Gyeongdong Market (the largest market dealing with traditional medicinal herbs). Customers can directly visit Geumsan, Punggi, and Ganghwa and purchase ginseng for up to a 40% discount. Ginseng festivals—held in various locations during September and October when ginseng is harvested—offer ginseng at discounted prices, too.
