Korea Tourism Organization
(KTO) Sydney office has welcomed the arrival of the new Director for Australia
and New Zealand Mr. Sang-weon Je (Steve) from 15 January, 2014.
Mr. Steve Je has twenty
years experience working for Korea Tourism Organization in various departments
in KTO Seoul headquarters as well as overseas appointments as Deputy Director
of the KTO offices in Chicago and Hong Kong.
Recently Mr. Steve Je was
in charge of the ‘Hallyu Korean Wave’ team in KTO headquarters for two years
KTO Sydney office also
welcomed a new Deputy Director last August with the new Deputy Director Ms.
Jade Park now settled into her role in the Sydney office.
The Australian and New
Zealand market to Korea has been growing well over the past few years with
123,560 Australians and 29,105 New Zealanders travelling to Korea in
The growth in interest as
a result of the worldwide 2013 PSY Wiki Korea promotion has proved to capture
interest from all over the world. There has been a marked rise in
interest in K-culture around the world including massive interest in K-Pop,
Korean Films & Dramas and Korean Movie stars making their place in the
world. This has proven to be a great attraction for many travellers to
Korea in recent years.
In his new role as
Director for Korea Tourism Organization Australia and New Zealand Mr. Steve Je
plans to further develop the strengthening tourism market to Korea from this
region. He said ‘I look forward very much to meeting and working with the
Australian and New Zealand tourism media and related industry personnel
over the next three years during my term here in Sydney.
