Toronto, Canada. November 21st, 2012. – Korea has reached a milestone in Tourism, 10 million tourist arrivals in a single year. The feat was accomplished this morning at 8:25 AM. 28 year old Chinese Tourist Li Ting Ting flew via Asiana Airlines from Shanghai to ICN to become the 10 millionth tourist arrival for 2012.
Li Ting Ting said “Korea is an energetic and beautiful country”. Through Korean dramas and music, she has become more interested in Korea. Ms. Ting plans to visit Gyeongbok Palace and Bukcheon Hanok Village during her 4 day stay in Korea having researched her self-planned trip via Korea Tourism’s trip planner on www.visitkorea.or.kr
Korea hit the 1 million tourist arrival mark in 1978 and the 5 million mark in 2000. In Celebration of the 10 millionth tourist arrival, Ms. Ting was provided with a number of gifts. The Korea Tourism Organization provided a Korea Pass Card for shopping and transportation. The Visit Korea Year Committee and Korean Air provided 2 international round trip tickets each and Asiana Airlines provided 3 roundtrip tickets from Shanghai to Incheon.
