The <1st World Slow Walking Festival> will take place from April 18 to April 19 in the Wando region, home to many islands and Asia’s first “Slow City”.
The Wando region has a beautiful natural environment; the islands are surrounded by clean waters and ringed by white sand beaches. The region also has a long history; it was of great strategic importance to the Silla dynasty (57 B.C. ~ 924) and controlled the Northeast Asian seas.
Visitors to the Wando region will enjoy its natural charms, rich history, and the hospitality of its people. Moreover, the World Slow Walking Festival will allow people to free their minds and enjoy life at a slow pace. On April 18, the first day of the festival, visitors can explore the ocean landscape around Sinji-do Island and walk through the rape flowers that bloom next to its white sands. Then on the second day, visitors can take a ferry ride to Cheongsan-do Island, and walk along its famous stonewall walkway, which appeared in the movie Seopyonje, and through the island’s rape flowers and barley fields.
