[Korea] Regular civil defense training to take place Aug 20, 2pm

The routine civil defense training is scheduled to be held nationwide on Wednesday, August 20, 2014. Drills are held five times a year to educate residents on the proper measures to take in the case of a national emergency.

Participation in safety drills is strongly advised. The training will start at 2 p.m. and will run for approximately 20 minutes. At the sound of the air raid siren, traffic will be stopped and pedestrians will be asked to follow emergency routes to the nearest underground shelters, subway stations, or other underground facilities. Those who are driving will be asked to park their cars immediately to participate in the safety drill. The guidelines will also be announced on radio and TV.
