[Korea] Chuncheongnam-do’s west coast beaches are now open

The beaches on the west coast of Chungcheongnam-do have opened early this year in anticipation of the early arrival of summer.

The first beach to welcome beach-goers was Mallipo Beach in Taean-gun, which opened on June 1, 2014. Other beaches including Mageompo Beach, Yeonpo Beach, Kkotji Beach and Sambong Beach are also expected to open sometime between late June and early July.

Daecheon Beach in Boryeong-si opened for the summer on June 14. Daecheon Beach is also the venue for the upcoming 2014 Boryeong Mud Festival, which is scheduled to take place from July 28 to 27, 2014. Another beach near Daecheon, Muchangpo Beach, announced a summer opening date of June 28, 2014. Muchangpo Beach is also gearing up for the 2014 Muchangpo Mystic Sea Road Jukkumi and Dodari Festival, which will be taking place in September this year.

Other festivities to look forward to in the Chuncheongnam-do area include the 2014 Taean Mohang Port Seafood Festival, Hansan Ramie Fabric Cultural Festival and the 2014 Buyeo Seodong Lotus Festival.
