The Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) recommends 8 great destinations to visit this May, one of the best times to visit Korea. These destinations are sure to have something for everyone, as some lead up to mountain peaks or through recreational forests, while others pass along beautiful dams and waterways or on easy trekking trails!
Baraebong Peak in Namwon, Jeollabuk-do, Galmobong Peak Forest Park in Goseong, Gyeongsangnam-do, Sobaeksan Jarak-gil in Yeongju, Gyeongsangbuk-do, and Jeongseon in Gangwon-do are well known for their scenic mountain trails. Visitors will feel refreshed by just walking up Baraebong Peak or to Galmobong Peak Forest Park thanks to the spring flower gardens and evergreen trees. Sobaeksan Jarak-gil is full of wonderful attractions, including Buseoksa Temple, Sosuseowon Confucian Academy, and many more, making it a great destination for travelers. Trying some fresh wild herbs and vegetables, strolling in National Gariwangsan Mountain Natural Recreation Forest or riding on a rail bike in Jeongseon are also very enjoyable.
Daecheongho Obaengni (500-ri) Road in Daejeon and Okcheon Hyangsu Baengni Bike Road in Cheongchungbuk-do were selected for their beautiful water ways and streams. Daecheongho Obaengni (500-ri) Road starts from Daecheongho Dam and continues around the lake, and Okcheon Hyangsu Baengni (100-ri) Bike Road (also called ‘40km-long Nostalgia Road’) takes you on a tour around Geumgang River, giving visitors a chance to stop by the Jeong Jiyong Literature Gallery.
Trails in the Jeamsan Recreational Forest in Boseong, Jeollanam-do and the National Institute of Ecology (NIE) in Seocheon-gun, Chungcheongnam-do are fairly easy and flat, allowing visitors the chance to peacefully and easily walk in nature.
