The 2014 Jeonju International Film Festival (JIFF) will be held for 10 days from May 1 to 10 at movie theaters in Deokjin-gu and Wansan-gu in Jeonju, Jeollabuk-do.
Now in its 15th year, the festival will be screening a total of 181 films (142 features and 39 shorts) from 46 countries. 13 movie screens at six different venues will be dedicated to screening films included in the festival. The opening film for this year is “Mad Sad Bad,” a zombie film made by directors Ryoo Seung-wan, Han Ji-seung and Kim Tae-yong. The festival also features independent films from Turkey, Cuba, Spain, India, and Mexico, among others.
Tickets can be purchased online by signing up on the festival’s website. Tickets are also available on-site (except for the opening film); however, only 10% of the total seats in the theater will be available for onsite purchase.
Make sure to check out these major tourist attractions when in Jeonju: Jeondong Catholic Cathedral, Gyeonggijeon Shrine, Jeonju Hanok Village and Deokjin Park.
