[Korea] In March, Seoul is Full of Cultural Delights

In support of spring cultural activities, the Seoul Metropolitan Government is hosting nearly 190 different programs and events. Performances include classical music concerts, musicals, plays and other hands-on activities that convey more about Korea’s intangible heritages.

“Vincent Van Gogh,” a musical about the life of the painter, is being showcased at Chungmu Arthall located in Jung-gu, Seoul. This performance features Van Gogh’s famous works along with musical numbers that naturally weave together the story of his life.

Chamber Hall in Sejong Center, located in Jongno-gu, Seoul will host the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra’s performance of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Serenade No.10. The well-known ensemble will be played by 13 different wind instruments and consists of seven different movements, offering a rare opportunity for appreciators of chamber music.

Another highlight is a hands-on experience program called “Me-too Master” at Donhwamun Seoul Masters’ Cultural Experience Center. Visit the center in Jongno-gu to try making Korean traditional handcrafts, such as Ottchil (applying lacquer) and making daily supplies using mother-of-pearl. Classes will proceed only if at least 10 participants sign up. There is no general fee for the class, but participants will be required to pay a nominal fee to cover the cost of materials, ranging between 10,000 won and 30,000 won.

More information and other details about programs can be found from e-Culture Seoul official website http://culture.seoul.go.kr or Dasan Call Center +82-120.
