[Korea] Mask Dance Performance by the Masters

•Photo Credit: Korea Cultural Heritage Foundation

The Seoul Center for Important Intangible Cultural Asset will be hosting a masterful Korean mask dance performance on October 18, 19 and 25, 2013. This is a rare opportunity to watch mask dance performances performed by designated holders of Important Intangible Cultural Properties. Holders or boyuja are individuals who have acquired the original state of the skills or artistic talents and are able to present a demonstration of them.

The mask dance is the representative folk art among the common people in the late Joseon Dynasty. The dance is a combination of distinctive music, dance, drama and costumes. The performance will add a modern dance interpretation on the 18th, focus on communicating with the audience on the 19th, and insert some fun and humor on the 25th.

Admission to the performance is free; however, seat availability will be based on a first-come, first-served basis.
