[Korea] Great Mountains Int’l Music Festival & School 2013 begins July 14

The annual classical music festival, the Great Mountains International Music Festival & School (GMMFS) will start on July 14 in Wonju and continue until August 6 in ten cities and counties in Gangwon-do.

Celebrating its 10-year anniversary, this year’s festival will have Northern Lights as the main theme. Masterpieces from renowned musicians such as Edvard Hagerup Grieg (1843-1907, Norway), Jean Sibelius (1865-1957, Finland), and Bo Nilsson (1937-, Sweden) will be performed on stage by top musicians. Sisters Chung Myung-wha (1944-, Korea) and Chung Kyung-wha (1948-, Korea) are serving as the festival’s directors. Moreover, highly acclaimed musicians and performers from home and abroad will be taking part in this spectacular event.

Enjoy diverse and top flight music programs at the 2013 Great Mountains International Music Festival & School set amid the beautiful and serene surroundings of Gangwon-do. The major performances will begin on July 23. Performance times differ so visitors are advised to check the schedule in advance.
