Deoksugung Palace is set to hold a series of evening Pungnyu (appreciation for the arts) concerts at the palace’s Jeonggwanheon Hall. The concerts will take place every Thursday at 7:30pm from May 2 to September 26, 2013.

On evenings with scheduled performances, Deoksugung will remain open beyond 6pm. The performances will have a different theme every month: “Family” for May, “Patriotism” for June, “Healing” for July, “Next Generation Korean Classical Musician” for August, and “Chuseok” for September. During the opening concert on May 2, child prodigies will take to the stage to showcase Korean traditional music’s bright future.

Admission to the concerts is free for Deoksugung Palace admission ticket holders. Entrance fee is 1,000 won for adults and 500 won for teenagers and kids.

*Pungnyu
In the past, pungnyu referred to the noblemen’s enjoyment of tasteful activities that combine the elements of nature, song and dance, and poetry. Nowadays, it refers to the elegant and stylish type of art or music.
