On March 26, the Cultural Heritage Administration released the blooming dates forecast for spring flowers covering the ancient palaces and the royal tombs located in and around downtown Seoul.

The ginger trees which can be found by the Gwallamji Pond in Changdeokgung Palace and by the flower garden at Gyeongchunjeon Hall in Changgyeonggung Palace were the first to bloom around March 21st. The maehwa (plum blossoms), apricot flowers, and cherry trees around the royal palaces are expected to bloom between late March and early April. Meanwhile, the spring flowers scattered around the royal tombs of the Joseon Dynasty in the Gyeonggi-do area such as Yungneung & Geolleung royal tombs in Hwaseong, Jangneung in Gimpo, and Seooreung in Goyang will bloom a little later than flowers in Seoul. Azalea and cherry blossoms are estimated to bloom beginning early April to mid April.

Visitors to the ancient palaces and royal tombs can enjoy the most beautiful peak blossoms by taking into consideration that spring flowers usually take one week to peak after blooming.
