2013 Tourist Information Center Cultural Experience Events

Every year, the Tourist Information Center (TIC), located in the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) Headquarters in Seoul, hosts a series of exciting cultural experience programs. This year, the TIC will be holding various hands-on programs such as making traditional crafts, playing folk games, writing Korean calligraphy, and trying on hanbok (traditional clothes). All programs are free, and open to the public on a first-come, first-served basis. Moreover, friendly TIC staff capable of English, Chinese, and Japanese will be available to assist the participants.

  • 2013 Cultural Experience Event Programs:

    * Hanbok Experience
    Time: 09:30-17:30 on scheduled days
    (See monthly schedule below)

    Try on different types of hanbok (traditional clothes) made for different purposes (e.g. general attire, wedding attire, ancient courtroom attire, etc.). Don't forget to bring your camera! This year, Hanbok worn during the ancient Korea kingdoms, including Joseon and the Three Kingdoms Period, will be also be available.
    * Korean Calligraphy
    Time: 13:00-17:00 on scheduled days
    (See monthly schedule below)

    Write your name or family motto using this Korean tradition of artistic writing. Hanji (traditional handmade paper), calligraphy brushes, and ink are provided.
    * Traditional Crafts
    Time: 09:00-16:30 on scheduled days
    (See monthly schedule below)

    Make bok-jumeoni (good luck pouches), or Hanbok origami. Like your handiwork? You can take them home with you too!
    * Folk Games
    Time: 09:00-20:00 on Seollal (Lunar New Year) and Chuseok (Thanksgiving) holidays

    Play traditional folk games such as yutnori (board game), tuho (arrow toss), jegi-chagi (shuttlecock kicking) and paengi-chigi (top spinning).
    * Traditional Tea Experience
    Time: 13:00-17:00 on Seollal (Lunar New Year) and Chuseok (Thanksgiving) holidays

    Try Korean traditional teas such as green tea and chamomile tea. Not only do they taste good, but they are also good for your body.
