[Korea] ‘2013 Visit Busan Ulsan Gyeongnam Year’ Begins

A year-long campaign to promote tourism in Korea’s major port cities Busan and Ulsan, as well as Gyeongnam or Gyeongsangnam-do Province has officially begun with a ceremony that took place on February 1st at BEXCO.

During the “2013 Visit Busan-Ulsan-Gyeongnam (Bu-Ul-Gyeong) Year” period, the representatives of the participating places will present special tour programs such as regional train tours and “Harmony Expedition”* (travel news reporting). Also, an official Bu-Ul-Gyeong Tourism Promotion Center will open in Xia, Shaanxi Province, China.

Furthermore, the campaign is expected to boost international tourism in Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam, which boast warmer climates and abundant resources.

Every year since 2004, the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism has been promoting regional tourism by dedicating an entire year to a Korean “do” (province) or “si” (city). The destinations which have been selected so far include Gangwon-do in 2004, Jeollabuk-do in 2012, and Busan, Ulsan and Gyeongsangnam-do in 2013.
