A total of 42 festivals have been designated as the ‘2013 Culture Tourism Festivals of Korea’ by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism.
The festivals were selected based on the results of on-site assessments and expert evaluations. Receiving the highest scores and earning the title of ‘Premier Festival’ are Gimje Horizon Festival and Jinju Namgang Yudeung (Lantern) Festival. The other festivals include 8 ‘Top Festivals’ including Gangjin Celadon Festival and Hwacheon Sancheoneo (Mount Trout) Ice Festival, 10 ‘Outstanding Festivals’ including Jaraseom International Jazz Festival and Jindo Miracle Sea Festival, and 22 ‘Up-and-coming Festivals’ including Gwangju World Kimchi Culture Festival and Sunchang Fermented Soybean Festival.
