The Suwon International Music Festival 2012 will take place from August 23rd to 25th throughout the city of Suwon in Gyeonggi-do Province.

Marking its 30th anniversary this year, the festival will feature internationally-acclaimed musicians including violinist Gil Shaham, cellist Mischa Maisky, and soprano Young-Ok Shin in joint performances with the Suwon Philharmonic Orchestra.

The festival will kick off with a grand opening concert by Gil Shaham taking the stage with the Suwon Philharmonic Orchestra. It will be followed by Mischa Maisky’s cello concert on the 24th and draw to a close on the 25th with the Korean soprano Young-Ok Shin’s opera and musical songs interweaving in heavenly harmony. Throughout the festival period, about 50 performance groups will present a fringe festival of cheerful street performances at locations in downtown Suwon including Suwon Station, World Cup Park Central Square, and Jangan Park.

Ticket prices range from 10,000-30,000 won, and can be purchased online at Suwon International Music Festival homepage (Korean, English), Ticketlink (Korean), and Interpark (Korean).
