The National Palace Museum of Korea will hold a concert at its outdoor stage at 5:30 p.m. on August 15.
In celebration of the re-opening of the museum, 40 members of the Yeongsan Company of Traditional Arts will present Korean traditional music using modern techniques under the theme of ‘exhilarating harmony of tradition and modernity.’ The genres will include grand concerto for orchestra, Minyo (traditional folk songs), vocal music, and Samulnori (Korean percussion music).
In conjunction with the concert, the recently renovated permanent exhibition hall and the special exhibition ‘Royal Seals and Symbols of the Joseon Dynasty’ will be open until 7:00 p.m. The special exhibition displays royal seals called ‘Eobo,’ the hand stamps of Joseon’s king and queen, and royal books called ‘Eochaek,’ which praise the kings and queens for their virtue.
Admission is free and reservations are not required.
