The Hwacheon Jjokbae (Raft) Festival will take place July 28th to August 12th at and around Bungeoseom Island in Hwacheon-gun Country, Gangwon-do Province.

On the first day of the festival, a madanggeuk (a traditional outdoor play) inspired by an old story of a boat that carried salt on the Bukhangang River will be held at 8p.m. on the waterfront stage of Finish Tower. The raft contest, the highlight of the festival, will be held at the same venue at 4p.m. on August 4th.

The festival will also feature amphibian (land and water) bike rides, a swimming pool, Yongseon (a King’s entertainment boat) ride, kayak and water bike rides, and an Indian Cultural Village.

Admission is free of charge, and the festival is open from 9a.m. until 6p.m. daily.
