The Korean War broke began when North Korea invaded South Korea at 4:00 on July 25, 1950. Equipped with strong military power, North Korea swept down nearly the entire Korean peninsula south to the Nakdonggang River. Stunned by the unexpected attack, South Korea brought all the military forces to the Nakdonggang region to defend the last bastion. Ordered to move to the front, Kang Seok Dae (Kim Seung Woo), the commander of a unit defending Pohang, turns over that area to the hands of 71 student soldiers and leaves. However, the student soldiers are not ready for a battle. General Jang Beom (Choi Seung Hyeon, T.O.P of Korean idol group Big Bang) becomes the general only for the reason that he had once been in a war. And Gap Jo (Kwon Sang Woo), another student soldier, became a soldier instead of going to prison. While the untrained and scared 71 student soldiers anxiously are waiting for Seok Dae to return, the North Korean Army advances on Pohang to confront the student soldiers.
View Point

‘Mother, I killed men.' The movie starts with a letter from one of the student soldiers, Lee Woo Guen. This is the true story of 71 student soldiers who defended their town of Pohang during the Korean War. Thanks to them, 200-300,000 Pohang citizens successfully escaped the town, and they delayed the advance of the North Korean military for 11 hours, greatly attributing to the successful defense of South Korea. This movie features a strong storyline based on a true story and realistic scenes. Especially, the all-star cast of Cha Seung Won, Kwon Sang Woo, Kim Seung Woo, and the the idol group Big Bang member T.O.P (Choi Seung Hyeon) attracted media attention.
