“Star Avenue”: Must-Visit Destination for Hallyu Fans

On July 1, Star Avenue, an exciting new entertainment complex dedicated to Hallyu stars opened in Seoul. Star Avenue is located next to the south gate of Lotte World in Jamsil, southeastern Seoul.

Star Avenue contains five different interactive sections, giving visitors unprecedented access to the worlds of their favorite stars. For example, you can try on some of the costumes used in dramas and have your picture taken. If you’ve got a favorite Korean singer, you can have your photo taken and placed onto their CD cover, which will be a unique memento for your trip.

[Star Showcase] - The section exhibits costumes, accessories, and various other items donated by Hallyu stars, such as TVXQ, Rain, Big Bang, Park Yong-ha, Song Seung-heon, Choi Ji-woo, Ji Sung, and Kang Ji-hwan. Visitors can also watch the “Star Magazine Video”, which features the latest celebrity news.

[Star Center]- This section is located at the center of Star Avenue. It contains a huge high definition 360-degrees screen, which features video clips of celebrities and music videos. Visitors also can send an e-mail to their favorite stars using a touch screen computer.

[Music Star] – Visitors can select a song from a jukebox and then sing along and dance on a stage just like a K-pop star.

[Drama Star] – This hall contains recreated film sets from popular drama series such as “Jewel in the Palace (대장금)” and “East of Eden (에덴의 동쪽)”. Visitors can try on costumes used in the dramas and have their picture taken.

[With Star] – Here, visitors have the chance to actually become part of a TV drama. For example, female fans can have their photo taken riding on the back of a motorbike with one of the heroes of “East of Eden”, as if they were one of the drama’s heroines. Also, visitors can have their photo placed in a famous scene from the drama or on a movie poster or CD cover. The photos can then be printed for visitors to take home with them. You can also read famous lines from dramas as if you were an actor.
