[Korea] Major Indoor Cultural Facilities Closed

Following the nationwide raised disease threat alert level due to the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), all indoor cultural facilities managed by the Cultural Heritage Administration have been closed since August 23. Previously, only cultural facilities in the metropolitan area were closed.

Since August 23, the National Research Institutes of Cultural Heritage in Gyeongju, Buyeo, and Jungwon, National Heritage Center, and more have been closed. The closing of the National Palace Museum of Korea, palaces, royal tombs, exhibition halls, and the National Intangible Heritage Center, as well as the cancellation of palace events will also continue.

The following facilities managed by the Cultural Heritage Administration have been closed since mid-August: National Intangible Heritage Center, Taean Maritime Museum, National Palace Museum of Korea, Deoksugung Palace’s Seokjojeon Hall & Jungmyeongjeon Hall, Changgyeonggung Palace Greenhouse, Goyang Seooreung Royal Tombs, Gimpo Jangneung Royal Tomb, King Sejong Shrine Management Office, Mokpo National Maritime Museum, National Heritage Center, Gyeongju National Research Institute of Cultural Heritage, Buyeo National Research Institute of Cultural Heritage, and Jungwon National Research Institute of Cultural Heritage.

Decisions regarding the reopening of these cultural facilities will be announced in the following websites: Cultural Heritage Administration, National Palace Museum of Korea, Cultural Heritage Administration Royal Palaces and Tombs Center, National Intangible Heritage Center, National Research Institute of Cultural Heritage, and National Research Institute of Maritime Cultural Heritage.
