The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism with Korea Tourism Organization has chosen secret attractions to visit this summer. The secret attractions include newly opened attractions as well as attractions that are opened only for a limited period during the year.

Newly opened attractions include the Seoul Botanic Park, Museum of Japanese Colonial History in Korea, Yeoncheon Gorang Port History Park, Factory of Contemporary Arts in Palbok, Daegu Art Factory, and Suchang Mansion of Youth. Seoul Botanic Park offers plants from around the world including 12 plants from the tropics to the Mediterranean that are usually difficult to see in an urban area. The Museum of Japanese Colonial History in Korea, located in Yongsan-gu, offers the history of the Japanese colonial period (1910-1945) with various artifacts. At Yeoncheon Gorang Port History Park, visitors can visualize the lives of people living around the Port of Imjingang River before the Korean War. Factory of Contemporary Arts in Palbok, Daegu Art Factory, and Suchang Mansion of Youth all offer a new take on art with renovated buildings at abandoned sites. With various exhibitions and events, the creativity of the artists lives on.

Attractions opened for a limited period are Hoeya Dam Eco Marsh from July 19 to August 25, and Geomunoreum Volcanic Cone Yongam-gil Trail opened from July 20 – 29. Hoeya Dam Eco Marsh offers visitors a beautiful view of fully bloomed lotus flowers, which only happens once a year. Geomunoreum Volcanic Cone Yongam-gil Trail, a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site, is opened only for a short period during the Geomunoreum International Trekking Festival, preserving the trail in the most natural state possible.
