Nami Island International Children's Book Festival is held at Namiseom Island May 4-26. Started in 2005 to commemorate the 200th birthday of Hans Christian Andersen, this year marks the 9th anniversary of the festival. Visitors to the festival will enter a fairy-tale playground that is bound to be full of memories.
This year’s theme, “Life is a Fairytale” features works from Andersen and his home country of Denmark. Various performances, experiences and exhibitions can be seen throughout the island.
Main performances include the musical “The Queen and the Nightingale,” based on Andersen’s book “The Nightingale”, one-man show “Miniature Theater,” music street parade “BrassTong Parade” and more. Experience programs include face painting, making a mask and hat at the Forest Elf Dressing Room, visitor participation parade “The Brave Reindeer’s Forest Parade” and more. The festival will also feature exhibitions like “Forest Exhibition” and “Denmark Illustrator 3 people 3 colors.”
