Despite the harsh cold climate, winter is one of the best seasons to enjoy outdoor activities. Among the several winter activities available in Korea, ice fishing is an activity enjoyed by all generation. Don’t miss out on the fun by visiting any one of the three major winter festivals below!
The Pyeongchang Trout Festival is currently ongoing at the host city of this year’s Olympic winter games, Pyeongchang. Over 150,000 visitors have already shared fun and excitement since the festival kicked off on December 22, 2017. The festival offers an overnight package as a tie-up promotion with the nearby Yongpyong Resort, allowing visitors to enjoy the festival as well as a ski trip.
Another great trout festival will start today at Hongcheon. At Hongcheon River Gingseng Trout Festival, visitors will not only get to enjoy ice fishing, but also enjoy exciting winter sports such as snow and ice sledding at Daemyeong Resort Vivaldi Park.
Korea’s most popular ice fishing festival, Hwacheon Sancheoneo Festival, is set to start tomorrow and run until January 28. The festival makes for a perfect day trip thanks to the shuttle bus running between Seoul and the event venue. This year’s festival offers VR sports experience in support of 2018 Olympic Winter Games PyeongChang, fishing area exclusive to international visitors, and a sancheoneo (mountain trout) cooking site.
