The grand opening of the second passenger terminal at Incheon International Airport is scheduled for January 18, 2018, just in time for international visitors coming to watch the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games.
Incheon International Airport Corporation announced that the date was set to allow the airport staff to become accustomed to operations and facilitate the arrival of the athletes who will participate in the sporting events. Terminal 2 will have all the amenities that are available in Terminal 1, including check-in, customs and immigration, boarding gates, and more. In addition, Terminal 2 has an all-inclusive transportation center, with trains running to Seoul, buses traveling to other regions, and short-term parking for travelers being picked up.
The new terminal is also equipped with the latest in smart technology, including an information robot, and an arrivals and departures flight information display system (FIDS). The Incheon International Airport Corporation has also taken all steps to insure the highest level of security for the safety of all travelers. Additionally, the second passenger terminal is designed to provide travelers with unique experiences, including sleeping boxes, sports facilities, and gaming areas for transit passengers, an observatory to take in the coming and going of planes, the vast open space of the Great Hall, extending from B1 to the third floor, a media wall, and a grand landscaped area outside the terminal.
