[Korea] Korea’s Most Representative Festivals in 2017

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has selected Gimje Horizon Festival, Mungyeong Traditional Chasabal Festival and Hwacheon Sancheoneo Ice Festival to be Korea’s premier festivals in 2017. It is the first time that Mungyeong Traditional Chasabal Festival is bestowed the ‘Premier Festival’ title.

In particular, three festivals including Boryeong Mud Festival, Andong Mask Dance Festival, and Jinju Namgang Yudeung Festival were conferred ‘Global Festival’ based on the high frequency of visits by international tourists in previous years.

Besides, a total of seven ‘Top Festivals’ were chosen including Gangjin Celadon Festival and Jindo Miracle Sea Road Festival, as well as 10 ‘Outstanding Festivals’ including Buyeo Seodong Lotus Festival, Jeju Fire Festival. Last but not least, 21 festivals including Gangneung Coffee Festival and Suwon Hwaseong Cultural Festival were selected as ‘Up-and-Coming Festivals’ look forward to in 2017.
