One of the world’s top three winter festivals, Harbin Ice & Snow Festival in China, is being replicated in Korea. Enjoy magnificent sculptures made of ice and snow at Pyeongchang’s Alpensia Resort, one of the venues for the Pyeongchang 2018 Winter Olympic Games, at the first ever Harbin Ice & Snow World in Pyeongchang Alpensia, open until February 28, 2016.
The festival will showcase grand-scale sculptures made out of snow and ice by over 300 Chinese artists certified by the city of Harbin. Displays will include cultural heritage sites from around the world such as the Colosseum, Tiananmen, and Taj Mahal, along with representative heritages from Korea, including Suwon Hwaseong Fortress, the nine-story pagoda from Hwangnyongsaji Temple Site, a naval battle fought by Admiral Yi Sun-sin and more. In addition to these outstanding structures, the festival has a variety of fun experience programs for all to enjoy; ride in a dog-sled or on a merry-go-round made of ice and enjoy a meal inside an ice restaurant afterwards.
