[Korea] 2015 Cherry blossom bloom forecast

This year, cherry blossoms are expected to bloom 1-3 days soon than average and 6 days later than the previous year, excluding certain regions in the south.

Showing off their dazzling white petals at Seogwipo on Jeju isalnd from March 24, cherry blossom will be bursting into bloom March 28 through April 4 in southern areas and April 3 to 12 in the central region. The northern parts of Gyeonggi-do, Gangwon-do and mountainous areas will have to wait until April 12 to see their blankets of snowy white blossoms.

Cherry blossoms take about 7 days to fully unfurl their petals from the time they begin to open up. It is forecasted that the beautiful cherry blossom scenery will reach its climax on March 31 at Seogwipo on Jeju island, April 4-11 in the southern region, and April 10-19 in the central region.

One of the best spots in Seoul to bask in the sweet scent of cherry blossoms is Yunjung-ro road at Yeouido Hangang Park where the cherry blooms will be at their prime on April 16.
