Unhyeongung Royal Residence, located in Jongno-gu, Seoul, will offer free admission to all visitors beginning March 20, 2014.

Unhyeongung Royal Residence is a site that preserves the history of the late Joseon Dynasty (1392~1910). It was the private residence of Heungseon Daewongun, the father of Gojong (the 26th king of the Joseon Dynasty). The young Gojong lived here until he ascended the throne at a tender age of 12.

Several events are scheduled to take place at Unhyeongung to mark this special occasion. These include a fashion show showcasing the royal family’s traditional clothes, an evening performance on Fridays during summer, and an exhibition featuring Unhyeongung’s artifacts.

Foreign language (English, Chinese and Japanese) interpreters will be available on site to assist tourists. Audio guides available in English, Chinese and Japanese can be rented from the entrance for 1,100 won (present an ID or passport).

Tourist attractions near Unhyeongung include Insa-dong, Jongmyo Shrine and Changgyeonggung Palace.
