The Yeongdong Dried Persimmons Festival 2013 will take place in the Yeongdong region, known as the home of the persimmon, from December 20 to 22.
“Gotgam” is the Korean word for a peeled persimmon that is dried in the sun through natural drafts. The process of making dried persimmons requires a lot of time and effort. Yeongdong dried persimmons are well-known for their high nutritional value and sweet taste. The festival will feature various hands-on experience programs, ranging from persimmon peeling, persimmon hanging, gotgam harvesting, and persimmon jam making to persimmon leaf footbaths.
