The Pohang Steel Art Festival 2013 will take place from November 3 to November 30 at the Pohang Canal area, the center of Korean steel industry, in Pohang-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do.
Under the theme “A Blacksmith in the New Steel Era,” this year’s festival showcases steel sculptures made by about 30 Korean artists. Hands-on programs such as the “Story of Smithy” lets visitors smelt steel and make crafts while the “Happy Blacksmith” involves hammering and tempering steel to make souvenirs that can be taken home afterward. Activities like rolling a hoop with a stick and other traditional games are also available at the festival.
Admission to the festival is free; however, fees may apply for some hands-on programs.
