The 59th Baekje Cultural Festival will take place in the county of Buyeo in Gongju-si, Chungcheongnam-do for nine days from September 28 until October 6, 2013.

The Baekje Cultural Festival began in 1955 as a ceremony held at a mountain fortress by Buyeo citizens to commemorate Baekje’s three loyal subjects (Seongchung, Heungsu, and Gyebaek). From then on, the festival has been held annually to promote the culture of Baekje by letting visitors experience its culture and history in a glance. The festival’s highlight is the Parade of Great Baekje, an ancient parade of foreign envoys (China, Japan, India, etc.) that came to pay tribute to the King of Baekje through traditional performances.

Other subsidiary programs and festivities include the Baekje horseback riding experience, the royal robe sailing program, and the Baekje history and cultural parade. Admission to the festival is free of charge.
