The Gohan Hambaeksan Wildflower Festival 2013 will take place around the vicinity of Manhangjae Hill in Gohan-eup, Jeongseon-gun, Gangwon-do from July 27 to August 4, 2013.
Manhangjae, sitting at an altitude of 1,330 meters, is the name of the hill located at the point where Jeongseon-gun, Yeongwol-gun and Taebaek-si of Gangwon-do all meet. In Korea, this is the highest mountain path for motor vehicles. This place is connected to Hambaeksan Mountain (1,573 meters) and is one of the largest wildflowers plantations in Korea. Every year, a wildflower festival is held here during summer. What started out as a ritual for the mountain spirit has now grown into a colorful festival featuring wildflower photo exhibits, music concerts, fireworks, and Jeongseon-gun’s local food market.
The Manhangjae Hill area is a great place to take in the beautiful scenery. However, it is strongly recommended for visitors to go up to the top of Hambaeksan Mountain to see the wide range of wildflowers and the mountains of Gangwon-do.
