Selected as Korea’s premier festival of 2013, the Gangjin Celadon Festival 2013 will take place in the vicinity of the Gangjin Goryeo Celadon Kiln Site in Jeollanam-do from July 27 to August 4.
The Gangjin Celadon Festival was first held 41 years ago and continues with the same theme of Goryeo celadon*, which is one of the greatest Korean cultural assets. The festival will organize approximately 80 programs across six categories such as exhibits, performances and hands-on activities. Some recommended programs are celadon making, the big celadon lamp exhibit, master’s celadon exhibit, Goryeo royal family parade and the celadon discount market.
It will be such a rare opportunity for visitors to actually see and touch real Goryeo celadon that was made hundreds of years ago. Admission to the festival is 3,000 won for adults, 2,000 won for teens and free for kids.
Bluish-green porcelain made during the Goryeo Dynasty (918-1392). Goreyo celadon was originally produced in Gangjin-gun, Jeollanam-do.
